June 14 is a day of remembrance in Lithuania for the Soviet deportations that began on this day in 1941.
Jewish families who had come from Memel and fled to Kaunas were also affected. Tobias Israelit was deported to Kraslag; his wife Etta and their young daughter Dina were exiled to the Altai region.
Salomon Israelit was also deported. His wife Esther and their son Mark were exiled to the Tomsk region. After their deportation ended, they were not allowed to return to Lithuania and lived in Riga.
